FDB (First Databank) provides FDB Multilex clinical decision support within Better Meds EDU
FDB has agreed to supply its Multilex clinical decision support for Better’s Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (ePMA) solution, Better Meds, within their Better Meds EDU programme for students. This agreement will afford students using Better Meds an opportunity to access clinical decision support within the ePMA, enhancing their learning experience.
Several universities across England are already part of Better Meds EDU, including Liverpool John Moores University, University of Plymouth, University College London, Newcastle University and Hull York Medical School. Their participation grants student nurses, prescribers and clinicians access to Better’s ePMA within an educational and learning environment.
FDB and Better have been working together since 2011. Better Meds is an ePMA solution that streamlines clinical work, using FDB at its core to provide clinical data and intelligence. FDB’s Multilex is the UK’s leading drug database and e-prescribing decision support solution. Offering drug interaction checking, sensitivity checking, contraindications, precautions and pharmacological equivalence, Multilex is a trusted decision support solution that helps with safe and effective medication use.
Better Meds EDU equips students with knowledge on prescribing, reviewing, and administering medicines electronically, all facilitated through the very tools that will shape their future practices. This hands-on learning involves understanding the intricacies of patient safety embedded in the technology. Such an approach not only fosters the acquisition of essential practical skills but also addresses the challenges of remote study.
Adrian Aggett, Client Director, Better UK & Ireland, says: “We have worked with FDB for many years, and we are really pleased that they are granting us the opportunity to incorporate Multilex into our Better Meds EDU programme. The solution provides students with access to an ePMA, equipping them with a solid understanding of the tools they’ll be using in a hospital setting and thus enabling them to seamlessly transition from university to clinical practice.”
Darren Nichols, Managing Director at FDB, says “We are delighted to be working with Better to supply our Multilex solution to their ePMA for use in their Better Meds Edu programme. We have a long-term partnership with Better, and we are proud that this agreement will benefit the next generation of healthcare professionals.”
