Cleric integrates FDB’s Multilex clinical decision support into its Respond-2 solution
Cleric has integrated FDB’s Multilex clinical decision support into its Respond-2 solution, which is a state-of-the art graphic command and control system used by 999 and 111 Services.
Cleric is the leading supplier of software solutions to the UK ambulance service. Its Respond-2 solution supports the whole of the CAD operation from call taking through triage and dispatch, to service quality monitoring and reporting and is compliant with NHSE and NHSD systems. FDB’s Multilex is the UK’s most widely used drug database and e-prescribing decision support solution and is being used within Respond -2 to support point of care prescribing.
Integrating Multilex clinical decision support within Respond-2 means that the solution now provides context-specific drug knowledge to reduce prescribing errors. The new functionality supports 111 clinicians to complete electronic prescriptions when clinicians want to give out emergency prescriptions. The solution will warn clinicians regarding patient allergies, interactions with existing drugs, drug side effects and other clinically important factors. It also enables the user to nominate a pharmacy that can take electronic prescriptions for collection. The message goes via the Spine to the pharmacy and the activity is then sent to the patient’s GP as a post-event message (PEM).

The service is now live in Respond-2 being used by Southeast Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust and West Midlands Ambulance Service University NHS Foundation Trust; and is available to other 111 Services using Respond-2.
