Providing consistency of prescribing across different healthcare settings.
Electronic prescribing is proven to reduce medication errors
compared to handwritten prescriptions.
With secondary care e-prescribing in its relative infancy, FDB’s Core Clinical Decision Support (CDS) gives vendors peace of mind, by providing proven consistency of prescribing across different healthcare settings.
In the past, secondary care settings have experienced a wide range of easily avoidable prescribing errors, threatening patient safety. The secure transfer of vital patient information from healthcare settings, along with the time-consuming effort of transcribing prescriptions from paper and the problems of illegible handwriting, have caused issues for clinicians and patients.
30 + years' experience of clinical decision support and drug knowledge
FDB offers intuitive clinical decision support that can be easily integrated into secondary care e-prescribing solutions
Providing an electronic record audit trail, saving clinicians’ time, while supporting good prescribing for patients.
FDB has over 30 years’ experience of clinical decision support and drug knowledge bases and provides exceptional offerings that can be integrated into your e-prescribing solution to add value and enhance patient safety. FDB's e-prescribing solution provides clinicians access to tens of thousands of medications and appliances, ensuring that e-prescribing is safe and complete for all conditions presented.
CDS functionality within the Multilex solution offers support to clinicians throughout the prescribing workflow. CDS provides checks against the patient’s record, specifically looking at the patient’s age, gender and condition. The checks within the solution focus on allergies, previous and current conditions, current prescribed medications as well as any potential interactions that the medications may have with one another. The prescriber is presented with graded warnings and alerts to help inform and prevent harm to the patient. Clinician alerts include drug-drug interactions, allergies, and dose range checking, all of which prompt workflow-appropriate actions and alerts. FDB’s industry-leading knowledge of medication clinical decision support, Multilex, is supported by an in-house team of expert clinicians, who check multiple sources and interpret NICE and other best practice resources to ensure that all medicines’ information is up to date. Its leading position within the market means that FDB adopts new industry standards quickly and easily, keeping pace with government regulations. CDS can be fine-tuned to meet the needs of specialised environments to enhance clinical care, patient safety and quality.
Multilex is kept up to date with the latest SNOMED and the Dictionary of Medicines and Devices updates. (dm+d - the NHS standard dictionary for medicines and devices licensed in the UK.)
